Without Rhyme Or Reason

Heart Beats Slowly Unto Death

Heart  beats  slowly unto death
Quiet resignation reigns supreme
And all around lie fragments
Of a tangled tortured dream

Intimidated by doubts  and fear
Instilled in years so tender
And  love that came to touch the heart
Unattained its sweet surrender

Youthful thoughts revisited
A place, now gone astray
A momentary madness
With no light to mark the way

And so, when timeless thoughts persist
As we near the final breath
With quiet resignation
Heart beats slowly unto death.
