Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

I am what I am...

I am what I am…
for all to look into
there is nothing that I wish to hide
my life is a book
with each page a story
speaking of how the heart in me died.

I was once a boy…
needing elders to teach me
but the lessons I learned were all sad
shouting at daybreak
fighting at sunset
never knowing of good things to have.

Then upward I grew…
manhood took over
there was nothing that was normal or sane
everyone was fighting
young children were burning
then taxed more cause it's done in my name!

Now I have grown…
many years have passed by me
yet primitive we still seem to be
body counts on Sky news
children still burning
War's everywhere that my eyes can see.

So I am what I am,
without fortune or glory
from all that I've witnessed of man
there was never a choice
my path lay before me
of being the man that I am.
