The Firm Foundation
We have a solid foundation,
That is given through salvation;
And God knows who belongs to Him,
For their light will never grow dim.
So whoever worships the Lord,
Can never let it be ignored;
And must give up in doing wrong,
Or their agony will prolong.
In a house there are many things,
With much pleasure that it brings;
Things that stand flat and that unfold,
Objects made of silver and gold.
But also things of steel and wood,
Using at the times that we should;
Some objects honored while used,
While other items are abused.
These items are much like people,
And the way we treat the Gospel;
As we tend to put our trust,
Into the objects that we lust.
Stay away from the lusts that tempt,
And immoral things that you dreamt;
Careful on what you hear and speak,
On things to shun and things to seek.
