Hating Idolatry
Please preserve me O God,
I take refuge in You;
Even though I am flawed,
Please help to see me through.
No doubt You are my Lord,
For I am nothing good;
You are loved and adored,
Want to do as I should.
Those who lead holy lives,
Are filling me with joy;
And continually drives,
Your Spirit to employ.
The ones who quickly chase,
Other gods make sadness;
But Your Word does erase,
Changing it to gladness.
I will not sacrifice,
Their offerings of blood;
Nor to let them entice,
To submerge in their crud.
I could not speak the name,
Of their gods from my lip;
Nor could I go proclaim,
The poison that they sip.
You make the path of life,
The one that I have known;
You chase away the strife,
Reward what You condone.
