From the Heart Through the Pen

yosph
My Empty Promise

At the beginning you were hesitant
While I poured what I could
Thought this would be an amazing trip
Then I got pissed
The minute I switched gears
Started giving you much less
You started to flip
Just about head over heels
You saw me nowhere near my peak
Had no chance to catch a glimpse
Of me at my absolute best
Yet if asked
You already narrowed it down
Between three white dresses
Had to let go
You can't love me near my worst
When you deserve better
That would make me selfish
You said I was your best
Well this would make me an a**hole
And that's just not me
Time for us to get back to reality
Such a sobering event
At the end
Felt like all the while
I was in some sort of experiment
A friend said I messed up
When I gave my 100 at the beginning
I told him it was more like 85
Little did I know
Maybe it was still too much
Marking a moment in our lives
So I'll leave with this
In this I have no regrets
Just some wishes that remain hidden
We went from good to bad
And I said I'll make it better
The only thing for which I'll apologize
Is leaving with an empty promise
