Here Again
Strong currents pulling in opposite directions
whirlpool effect, dizzy, and unbalanced
Disoriented in the wake of disaster
hopelessness sets in
Which direction is up?
Pressure building, chest aches, burns
Franticly trying to reach the surface
being pulled deeper into the abyss
light gives way to darkness
Screams trapped in deafening silence
Let it be over
cries go unanswered
Fatigue plagues every muscle
losing the fight
Overwhelmed as wave after wave
of unrelenting water crashes against
the already bruised and broken vessel
Light dims and slowly it fades to black
it doesn't hurt anymore
numbness claims the body as well as the mind
The details of the nightmare are ever changing
the scene, the characters, the story, always different
this makes little difference
because it always ends in exactly the same way
Some things you just can't escape
some memories can't be purged from the soul
and some wounds never fully heal
