Contempt for His Word
You have rejected the warning,
Trusting oppression and deceit;
As you lean on them each morning,
While trying to look discreet.
That is why your sin will be like,
A high wall with a bulging break;
As the Holland boy and the dike,
Because knowing what was at stake.
The crack will break like pottery,
It will be smashed and nothing left;
The town flooded and watery,
The soul is taken in a theft.
You can be saved by coming back,
And you will get the needed rest;
God will give the love that you lack,
In His mercy your will be blest.
You can be quiet and be strong,
Putting in Him all of your trust;
As agony does not prolong,
In knowing that the Lord is just.
But you flee to avoid the wrath,
As you try to run really fast;
Instead the Lord will block your path,
Forgetting you cannot outlast.
Many people will try to flee,
But for you will be left alone;
By yourself standing you will see,
God judging while on His throne.
