A WOOING IN THE WIND

A WOOING IN THE WIND
THE SIRENS CALL

I hear the ocean calling to me
strong as the siren's called in Homer's Odyssey

The faint scent of salt spray beckons me to sandy beaches
there is a wooing in the wind

Waves rush to the shore I feel the pull as forceful as the tide
I am lured by a powerful desire to sail away

How I long to spread my wings as the gulls flying high in the sky
for the wind currents to take me to that strange new land

Faster and higher I want to soar
as the wind bellows the sails

Carrying  me  to a place I have never been before
where starfish and conch shells are tangle in stardust

Glimmering mermaids rest on sea rocks
flex their shimmering tails in a warm greeting

I in my sailboat of dreams
long for yesterday and that new day to come

I am caught somewhere between heaven and earth
fighting the siren's call to explore uncharted courses

Psalm 98: 4 - 9

4. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

7. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

8. Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

9. Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
