I Like Crows

I like crows
they ask for no favors
they come and go
and do what they please
they are garbage collectors
they scavenge
but they live a life
of unease.
Seems they've got a reputation
for vile foreboding stuff.
When it comes to reputations
I think the crow has not deserved
his misconception most unforgiving and wholly gruff...
What I'm saying is they are
survivors, doing nothing much more
than what we humans already do.
We often take the scraps
and call it a banquet,
but the crow has a better attitude
about making do.
He takes these scraps,
but makes a dinner party
and invites all of his family
and his friends...
he makes a loud speaker invitation
so that no one is left out or
feels chagrined.
Then they all dine cackling together,
with one chap keeping a trained eye about...
these black birds know they they
are unwanted
so they have their special scouts.
After dinner they all fly off
for some group leisure activity
chattering to each other
wasn't that a good meal,
and yes, we shared such pleasant company.

Melissa A Howells of Tilt-a-World

I love all birds... I like to watch them and feed them. My Mother was a bird lover, perhaps
that is where it comes from. I used to call her Miss Jane.
