Within Us
How can a man keep his life pure,
Temptation always tries to lure;
For no matter which way you turn,
Sin lurks that desires to burn.
I wholeheartedly searched for you,
The ways that you can remain true;
So please take some friendly advice,
Before doing something think twice.
You can do it by what you heard,
If you just hold onto the Word;
By keeping Scripture in your heart,
And reciting never to depart.
Do not let them wander away,
Because they just might let you stray,
If they are not there standing guard,
Allowing your heart to get charred.
I treasure your promise in my heart,
The Word of the Lord you impart;
Continue to honor and laud,
By worshipping the triune God.
Then allow His love to prevail,
So any sin may not set sail;
Because His Word is there to thwart.
Sin trying to dock at your port.
With my lips I have repeated,
Of each law that has been seated;
Each regulation that is flung,
Is filled with the breath of each lung.
For I still find joy in the way,
More than treasures I see each day;
His laws make me feel rich inside.
As I continue to abide.
