How amiable is Your church,
For finally ending my search;
A feeling of solace is here,
Knowing that our God is near.
For my soul does long as it yearns,
With all of which that my soul learns;
In how I should honor and laud,
As I shout for the living God.
Even the birds have found a home,
So that they do not have to roam;
And that their young will soon be born,
Near the altar that they sojourn.
Blessed are for those who will find,
The peace and the strength in their mind;
As their heart stays on track to You,
Not to derail with what they do.
God of Jacob and Lord of Host,
Together with the Holy Ghost;
Open Your ears onto my prayer,
Listen to what I have to share.
Look at the shield and our face,
Please shine Your mercy with Your grace;
We do not want to feel the shame,
As we go out as to proclaim.
For You are our sun and shield,
No one else shall we ever yield;
Ready and willing for a test,
That I know will do our best.
