THE FLY

THE FLY

I found Hilda to be quite distressed
As she had a fly that was quite a pest,
It pestered her by night and by day
I think it thought she was its prey.

Hilda looked down and to her surprise
She just couldn`t believe her eyes
For as she quietly watched tv
The fly was sitting on her knee.

That night off to bed Hilda did go
Where the fly slept she just didn`t know,
But just as sure as night follows day
The fly was still there to her dismay.

We had a coffee Hilda and I
When Hilda suddenly let out a cry,
For as bold as brass the fly was there
Sitting on her cup to Hilda`s despair.

That was it! The fly just had to go
I would see if off with one swift blow!
Try as I may I failed every time
So I decided to bide my time.

I waited for it to land somewhere
And rising slowly from my armchair,
I thought now fly you will breathe your last
I raised the paper but it flew straight past.

I was getting rather irate now
I really hated this fly and how!!!
It will not get the better of me
I`ll win just you wait and see.

Alas! How very wrong was I?
For the flamin` fly just wouldn`t die,
So Hilda has an uninvited guest
One I`d like to put under house arrest.
