Little girl
draw a picture for me.
little girl
do you know why you are here?
little girl
your mommy loves you.
little girl
are my directions, clear?
little girl
this woman is already annoying.
little girl
i already know what they both expect.
little girl
pick out some crayons.
little girl
i've picked the black one.
they're watching intently.
do they know what i suspect?
little girl
let me give them
exactly what they want.
little girl
a sky of storm clouds
with pummeling dark raindrops falling down.
little girl
let's have that talk now.
little girl
let's have our semi-private kind of chat.
little girl
let's delve into the bottom
let's operate
let's see exactly where you're at.
little girl
(i think you want to make your feelings a welcome mat.)
little girl
see mommy's olive eyes now
how they fill in with tender tears.
little girl
let's take a while longer.
little girl
share all your goblin fears.
little girl
our session's nearly over
yes, your puzzle pieces fit.
little girl
but could you please do one more thing, now?
you've got to give up one more teeny tiny bit...
little girl
would you gather your crayons
and draw another picture, or perhaps two?
little girl
here sits a
stupid woman and a sad mommy
staring right in front of you.
so
I'll take up the crayolas and draw a little scene,
yes I can have a little fun.
I'll use the orange red and yellow
and paint them the biggest smiling sun.
then populate the paper with the brightest flowers.
they will be so surprised how this
will blot out the blackened showers
the ones I drew when we began.
little girl,
what a fine good picture.
mommy sighs and dabs deftly at her eyes.
little girl
it was good to meet you
(isn't this a big dumb surprise?)
little girl
come see me again.
lady...are YOU crazy?
NO!
you must be stupid
I would not come back
NEVER
NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!
you are as foolish as I am wise.
mom, do you feel better?
I ask as I reach for her trembling hand?
she asks, but do you feel better?
I nod yes because she feels better.
I nod because I can.
all my pretty pictures
I can draw them so well.
i can heal mommy when i want to
with the many colored lies i've learned to tell.
