A LARGE ORANGE SPHERE

A LARGE ORANGE SPHERE

Autumn's Equinox is here

This day and night are the same length
on both sides of the world for this one night

Summer is gone and winter is on its way
The days are shorter and the nights longer

In a few nights a large orange sphere
will shine in the heavens

It is called a harvest moon
lovers have spooned under its glow for years

In the month of October many strange sites will appear in the sky
black cats sitting on the edge of a sliver of the moon with their backs hunched high

Creatures in black garb will ride on boom sticks across the dark night
Bats will cry in loud squeaks - wanting to ride on the boom stick too

Children will run from house to house in strange dress
carrying bags of unusual sizes and shapes full of candy and treats

Autumn's Equinox is a signal
for the change that is about to take place
