I saw my past in the supermarket
I saw my past by the tinned beans Wearing my old ‘T' shirt and faded dreams Checked out together before The shopping delivered to the same door A sighed hello with a fake smile Hopes trolley dashed up the aisle Up the aisle and through the pews Perished goods in yesterday's news How are you past I nearly cried No-one stood by her side Alone at last give it rice She can't resist my Asda price I fell away before the dance Remembered why I spurned my chance Grabbed my basket best take care My cupboard has no space for her For though her store is rich with spice I must resist her tender vice Her passion fruit her angel wings Be purchased with a golden ring That once adorned will say the bard Give access to my credit card And free to read of my account A spending spree of large amounts Not happy with a shopping trip Or even vows from our lips Wifely domain would hurt my world New husbandry would harm my girls Give the past a decent grave In future shop at Kwik Save Vote for this poem
