THESE PEARLS

These pearls were the gift he gave me
for our wedding day

A gift of love to wear on the special days of our life
Beautiful iridescence luster in hue with a creamy sheen

Around my neck this beautiful strand
glowed rich in the candle light as he placed his ring on my finger

Many times over the year I wore my pearls with love
treasuring them as a special gift from above

The longer I keep them the richer their luster grows
I never envisioned that I someday would walk this lonely road

I know these pearls can not feel nor do they see
Nevertheless they mean the world to me

I wore them last when we laid my love to rest
The dress I wore was the one he loved me in the best

I feel his nearness as I hold them to my cheek
How I long for his touch and once more to hear him speak

My love gave these pearls to me so long ago
Like these pearls my love for him still glows
