I Never Want to Disappoint the Moon (from Cathedrals)

Too bright.

Aren't you supposed to be a secret?
Kind and nurturing...
Not obvious?
Not dangerous?

Tonight, you look at me expectantly.

Don't ask anything of me
But my eyes--
I never want to disappoint the moon!

Where would I be without you?
No one else looks for me
In the dark.

June, 2007

(for Wyatt)
