The First Christmas'Twas a cold night so many years ago, angels were singing on high, heralding a special birth, though He lay in a lowly manger, He was a king ready to be received. One special star shone high above, in that cold night sky, guiding three men upon their way, their simple goal to bow their royal heads in worship, of the newborn King of grace. Shepherds from near and far left their charges, just so they could come to adore Him, their newborn King, while two parents stood in amazement, at all that happened before their mortal eyes. You may wonder upon whom was such adoration bestowed, who was it that was so worthy of this devotion and love, and why He was laid to rest in a lowly manger on such a special day. I tell you simply why it was so, 'twas the plan of God above that we might know Jesus, and bow our heads in worship of the true King on Christmas day. Donavon Scott Vinson I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and hope that the reason for the season rings clear in your minds. Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
