 Concert

She absorbs the scene
Until the sweep of violins
Draws the breath from her throat
To drift with her heart across the hall

Notes tumble through the air...
Her heart reels
And beauty blankets the night

Her spirit soars to midnight's crown
Joining the rising cry for encore
Before the moment is swept away
In the tide of ivory silk
And velvet shoes

(from Counting Silver)
December, 2004
