His First Love
God knows what we have done,
Although justified by the Son,
You are neither as cold nor hot;
And righteous you surely are not.
You are lukewarm not hot or cold,
As well as with a taste like mold,
From His mouth is spitting you out;
For your faithfulness is in doubt.
You may be rich or with wealth,
But about spiritual health;
You cannot see that you are poor,
For always tempted by the lure.
You are blind and miserable,
So pitiful not capable;
Not able in seeing the truth,
Because you can be so uncouth.
Buy gold purified in fire,
If you truly have desire;
Then with that buy white clothes from God,
Before you go honor and laud.
Wear them for hiding all your shame,
Wear them as you go to proclaim;
Buy ointment and put on your eyes,
So you will see through the disguise.
God will correct and discipline,
For the corruption and your sin;
Because the love He has for you,
And in return you remain true.
