So Many Need to Know

So Many Need To Know

While sitting there unnoticed
eating his piece of pie
the people walked right by him
as if preoccupied

He looked like he was homeless
His clothes were caked with dirt
His pants were old and tattered
and matched his holey shirt

Each bite that he had taken
was like it was his last
He'd savor every flavor
as hours seemed to pass

He'd look up at the people
a frown upon his face
How could he go unnoticed?
He seemed so out of place

But then for just a moment
a child smiled back at him
The old man grabbed a locket
inside a rusty tin

He opened up the locket
and there we saw inside
a picture of a baby
with sparkles in his eyes

He gave the child the locket
without a single word
The room became so quiet
Then music could be heard

The old man left the restaurant
He never did look back
We all stood there bewildered
Who was this homeless man?

But then the old man's locket
began to glow inside
The child took out the picture
and there before our eyes

We saw a man there smiling
with holes in both His hands
We knew that very minute
He was the son of man

Our eyes became so blinded
we couldn't even see
that people all around us
are desperate to be free

So take the time this Christmas
remember what Christ did
He came to us a baby
a manger for His crib

He did this for a reason
because He loves us so
Now go and spread this message
So many need to know
