On the outside
looking in
the picture is so much clearer
I can see now my mistakes
my triumphs
my failure to understand all that needed understanding
so that my triumphs could be more
more than just another severed head as a trophy
more than just another battle scar to add to the many already won in battle
something of value that would give me value
but now it is late…
what value I may or may not have been
is already resigned to history.
