 Sleep Now

On this day
Of your great distance
From my arms
I sing the song
You taught me on the swing
Under that gracious oak
As light laced through branches
Leaving shadows on the ground

You won't be aware they say

But you know my tears--
The ones you dried so many times

They fall on your forehead
As I say farewell
With a holy kiss

And walk the path home without you….

(from Alabaster Box)
Sept. 26, 2011

for my Aunt…I miss you so
