Are You There John Lennon?
Imagine
Torment transformed to lullaby
Hearts turned homeward
Reunion of softly speaking
Loving blindly
Uplifted eyes
Enlightened deeds
Holy kiss, Pure touch
Illuminated intention
Redemption from shame
Banishment of violation
Endowment of dignity
Leaning on trust
Pulling up
Reaching out
Unknotting the tangled web
Opening fists clutched with greed
Imagine
Intolerance of oppression
Invasion of compassion
Plagues of plenty
Legions of rescue
Polity of heroes
Surrender of bigotry
Would it lead to
Benevolent world order--
None trampled under foot
Ascension of all to the summit of decency?
Could we at last achieve
Righteous inspiration
Individualism conquering masses
Addiction to art
Rehab of religion
Victorious vision?
Are you there John Lennon? I think we need you.
