Farther Directions
I was once crazy and wild,
A rowdy and misled child;
A slave to the lusts and pleasures,
While seeking earthly treasures.
I was mean and green with envy,
For my world was topsy turvy;
In being hated and despised,
For the wicked plans I devised.
But when Jesus Christ did appear,
I then started to feel the fear;
His kindness and love calmed me down,
To make a smile from my frown.
He saved me not for what I done,
But because God had sent His Son;
Regardless of my past merit,
He cleansed through the Holy Spirit.
That has given a renewed birth,
And is priceless in all its worth;
God poured a generous amount,
A feeling that was paramount.
God looked upon me with favor,
For sending Christ as my Savior;
God in His kindness has given,
His approval from up in Heaven.
So I have now become His heir,
Giving me hope and not despair;
With eternal life since I believe,
Through salvation that I receive.
