Heart Of The Matter

I love you, let me go,

Photobucket

So unexpected, the turnaround,
Miss Self Sufficient,
The solo flier,
The woman who would not,
Could not,
Be moved again,
So unexpected, the bolt out the blue,
The gentle stirring of emotions,
Dormant far too long,
Until ....

When did it start?
The trick of the heart,
Cajoling,
Pretending nothing  and no one,
Could touch the inner,
Pretending he, no more than acquainted,
Could steal her in the night.

There's a full moon,
Creating folly,
Madness in a midnight sky,
He is closing in,
His breath on her skin,
And people,
Are passing them by,

The heart stalls,
The moon falls,
And eyes are too honest this night,
She has run out of time,
Her hearts on the line,
She feels panic, will she choose,
Fight or flight?

He bestows an embrace,
Wears a smile on his face,
Hesitating, she smiles in reply,
She wants  to say "Yes",
But she's fighting distress,
As she kisses her freedom goodbye,

She decides to say "No,
I love you ... Let me go,
I live my life better alone,
I need to be free,
We can't be you and me.... "

"Hey Girl, I'm just walking you home".

This is dedicated to one of my friends, who read too much into an innocent encounter after a long time on her own..
