 ramblings and things

hell

don't tell me about hell
I've just come from there
after weeks with my wife
in palliative care
helplessly watching
as day after day
slowly and surely
she just slipped away

I'm being killed with kindness
by well meaning true friends
but I'm here on my own
at each long day's end
and it's like being locked
in my own solitary cell
with only my memories
in my own lonely hell
