The Purpose of the Law
These are the rules and the laws,
To keep you from getting flaws;
The Lord your God commands me,
For teaching that you will see.
Obey them where you may go,
So you are able to know;
In how to live a long life,
For easing toils and strife.
You must learn to fear the Lord,
Never letting Him be ignored;
Remembering He is God,
Who you must honor and laud.
You must obey His commands,
Recalling what the Law demands;
And you will live a long time,
Not committing any crime.
Then things will be going well,
While your life will excel;
As well as your colony,
Will flow with milk and honey.
Love the Lord with all your heart,
Let His Word from lips impart;
As well as your strength and soul,
Allowing Him in control.
Repeat them to each child,
So they stay meek and mild;
Write them on frames of each door,
So tempted not by a lure.
