Silently Blue

Innocence failed,
a strange new direction
learning to navigate the night
twisting and turning
amid shadows of learning
never knowing of the truth in what's right...
puberty raged,
so many directions
how can any boy know the road he must choose?
without twisting and turning
in the fires that are burning
while the whole world spins silently blue…
maturity called,
but only my demons would answer
I was too weak to speak out aloud
to much pushing and pulling
great heights and falling…
frightened and lost in a crowd…
old-age a blessing,
though some fires did warm me
not every flame was a flame that would burn
and now that winter is nearer
the fires seem dearer
as the big silent blue keeps to turn.
