Ô Gjakova émeraude, sensible comme un rêve

Que Dieu a oublié entre mes cils de blé,

Clarté dans ma nuit, poème de vérité

Qui bat contre mon cœur avec la force des sèves !

Gjakova ou Đakovica : ville du Kosovo. Selon le recensement kosovar de 2011, la commune compte 94 158 habitants. 

 

Il existe un certain nombre de théories concernant le nom de la ville. Celui-ci pourrait dériver du terme serbe djak, « élève », ou d'un terme albanais gjak, « sang ». Le nom pourrait également provenir d'un grand propriétaire terrien de la région, Jak Vula, qui aurait donné une partie de son domaine pour permettre la construction de la cité ; la ville serait alors la « terre de Jak ».

There are a number of theories regarding the name of the city. This term may derive from Serbian dak, "student", or from Albanian term gjak, "blood". The name could also come from a large landowner in the region, Jak Vula, who gave part of his estate to allow the construction of the city, so the city would be the "land of Jak."
