Grandson nose broken eye closed shut
Dad says, "You would do anything to spoil
my birthday and with Father's day coming up!"
Mumbled through his swollen nose,
"Thanks Dad--I needed the attention!"
I said, "Using your head. All these years
I thought you didn't like playing soccer."
Grandma said, "He just wanted to outdo my eye surgery."
Brent said to e-mail back a kid who heard
and thought he might have been killed by the ball,
and was sorry he always was teasing Brent
and now that he heard he almost died he wanted
to take back all the times they teased each other
and how much in reality he really loved Brent
Brent said, "email back--Get over it jerk!"
How do you survive without understanding humor?
