Bedding

The quilt cover has been changed
All the bedding is freshly clean
It's all so tidy in this room where
For so long no woman has been.

It's characterless, sterile,
And me like lacks so much,
The softness that comes from
From that special female touch.
I toss and turn all night in a bed
That seems to extend acres wide
When no one is there
To lay on the other side.

Sometimes I turn to
Reach for a  cuddle
To lie and to spoon
There in a huddle,
Awake disappointed,
It was all in my head.
There is still just me
In my cold wide big bed.

Life is restarting after so long,
Memories are starting to allow
Thoughts of other things and I
Think I am progressing now.
And maybe just maybe in time
I won't always be on my own
Maybe I won't have to sleep
In this big wide bed all alone.

It's all so tidy in this room where
For so long no woman has been.
The quilt cover has been changed
All the bedding is freshly clean.
