I’ve danced and sang in the rain
I’ve played all the games
I’ve worked, laughed and cried
I’ve fought and seen young men die
I’ve loved and been loved
I’ve tried to be honest with myself and others
I’ve had good friends and a few enemies too
I’ve crossed the ocean’s azure blue
I’ve danced in the street of Paris
I’ve drank the wines rarest
I’ve been there and back many a time
I’ve written songs and a few dark rhymes
Now that it’s about all over, I asked out loud,
“What was my life’s journey all about?”
And from the wilderness, a deep voice
answered, “Insignificant, nothing,
compared to the great scheme of things!”
