Today's Poetry
Colour him Father Colour him Love
She was a little girl of seven
When first he said hello
She recognized his kindness
And easy going mellow
She decided it was he
The man she’d claim as dad
Her little heart reached out
And reached up for his hand
He extended more to her
Experience and reserve
Most common courtesy
And a father’s love that served
Throughout her years
He cherished her so dear
Claimed her as his with smile
And calmed still any fears
Oh how she loved this man
He raised her to be strong
With casual ease and stride
He taught her right from wrong
So when he closed his eyes
Her world was truly crushed
How could she say goodbye
When life seemed horribly rushed
This was her very substance
Her heart could not let go
Her memory traced little feet
That followed his echo
He was not just a dad to her
His place was set in stone
There would never be another
Her heart would claim to own
For My Sister,
Darlene
Because her heart recognized in him
A compassion known to few
An instant flash of familiarity that her heart
Trusted enough to bind with
With much love, your sister,
Christy
Added Note:
Our mother allowed my sister Darlene to choose
the words to put on our Dad's Tombstone,
she chose,

I thought of you today
The Colors of Your Love
A New Leaf's Smile
Where Flowers Grow
Rainbow Pale to Stay
Despite The Dark Of Night
Chance Of Gray
I Brush Away The Crumbs
Natures Gentle Song
Breath of winters chill
Abandoned and Aware
Ache in my soul!
Across the Written Skies
Always
America The Dream
Anchor of My Soul
Angels Dust & Pearls
As close as a whisper
A Distant Star
A Glide Of Velvet Fingers
A place called home
A Song Lingers There
Belly Aching Leaves of Wilt
Wheelchair Bound
Broken Soul
Colour him Father Colour him Love
Daddy Dumpling
Dance Upon The Moon
Day of Reckoning!
Dementia
Echoes Of You
EYES OF JESUS
