Idleness

Think of the ant you lazy bum,
Just watch its ways and become wise;
Do not act as if deaf and dumb,
Just open up your ears and eyes.

It has no one to supervise,
While it stores the food supply;
No one to tell or to advise,
Not questioning or wonder why.

For the ant knows what it must do,
And knows its duty and its job;
With each and every day through,
Knows no one will slack off or rob.

How long will you lie there and sleep,
A little sleep as you slumber;
Being less active than a sheep,
Acting cool as a cucumber.

When do you get up from your nap?
Staying up too late playing games;
Wholly unaware of the trap,
That Satan guides as he aims.

Then poverty will come to you,
Like a drifter or train hobo;
Scrounging food wherever to do,
Never knowing where you will go.

Satan gives you a twisted mind,
Spreading disaster as you speak;
No longer as Christ, who is kind,
For evil and hatred you seek.
