 Hiding Inside Ourselves

I know the way it is but is this the way it's supposed to be?
All rough and tumble, keeping my feelings dear to me,
Living inside a closed off mind that others can never see.
As far as I know, language is as near as we can ever be.....

Our minds are like myriad separate islands in the sky.
I can't read thought waves no matter how hard I try.
Wishing well, no matter how full, nothing we can buy
Until we expend all our secrets and the well goes dry......

What we feel, what we think, can never be revealed,
Except in tiny bits and pieces served piecemeal.
As far as I know, touch is the closest we can feel.
Most of what is us, we keep under permanent seal......

She said, 'he poured out his heart to me', but is this so?
There is a line we cannot cross, a place we cannot go.
She looks at him and sees goodness and kindness flow,
Never knowing if deep inside he is angel or demon,
........Because he will never let it show........
