Mood Indigo

One of those afternoons
When you just want to laze
Soaking up the sun
Almost in a daze
A little dash of birdsong
Floating in the breeze
With the whispering of leaves
As it gently stirs the trees.
A few bars of jazz
From two gardens down
Mood Indigo I think
An unobtrusive sound
Large Rum and Coke
Very heavy on the ice
Topped with lemon
A thin fresh slice
Rolls round the mouth
Nice refreshing taste
Slowly drain the glass
Not a drop goes to waste
Telephone switched off
Made sure it can't ring
This may not be heaven
But it's the next best thing
