 Slammin' And Such

She's been out there on the streets so long
She feels she can't go wrong
But in her head the way things really go
Is that she can't say no
....Drug dealer for a beau

And he's been inhaling toxic fumes so long
He no longer knows right from wrong
In his fried mind the way he thinks things are
He's gonna be a rock star
....Boom box in his car

I ask her, "How are you feeling,
And what is it today you're dealing"?
Her eyes almost don't see me
They look far away and dreamy
....But I suppose it could just be me

I walked up to her boyfriend, greeting him,
Asking how life was treating him.
I'm not too sure he knew I was there
He seemed to be walking on air
....In his eyes, a look of despair

It's not that I'm saying these two are lost,
But they certainly are paying a heavy cost.
In life, one's chances are never enough.
Especially when you mess with stuff
....That you can't beat...and you can't bluff...
