MY LITTLE BUTTONS TURNED OUT TO BE A GREAT WOMAN

We had been married just a little over one year
When God blessed us with this beautiful child
The biggest most expressive eyes I'd ever seen
I was so happy I thought I was walking on air

She was a great beauty just like her mother
With her light blond hair and dark brown eyes
You knew she'd grow up to be this great beauty
She was so cute I called her my little buttons

Well you know her daddy was keeping a close watch
As she was our only child then I was overprotective
She was a born entertainer who always made us laugh
She'd kick a beach ball down the hallway and giggle

And when I came home from work I'd smile at her
She'd quickly make me forget my hard day I had
I'd open the door and they were there waiting
Both smiling because daddy was home from work

That little smile of hers would make you so happy
And I thanked God everyday for this special girl
There came the day when she started to go to school
At first she didn't want to stay and would cry there

Soon she learned that she could have fun with the kids
It was like she came into her own see you later goodbye
There were things to do with her new found classmates
So it was see you later they're waiting for me you know

She was a very smart girl and sometimes she'd get bored
And later as she got older homework was not her thing
She got A & B's in everything, except turning in homework
She had done it, she just didn't turn it in at her school

I remember I ran for a spot at the school board election
Won by a landslide and beat my opponent easily two to one
Well she was not very happy at this turn of events then
She said I ruined her life, no one would talk to her now

But she seemed to overcome this burden to her young life
At the teacher conference her teacher laughed and said
Amy, Amy, what can I say she is a party waiting to happen
She and her friends they are always talking in my class

Oh may God help you when those girls get in high school
They won't have to worry about being in with the in crowd
Amy and her girlfriends are the in crowd and popular too
She was very talented at everything that she took part in

She became a cheerleader and was one of the leaders there
After her Graduation they all left for college that fall
And she became the independent young women she is today
A hard working wife & mother with a son and she volunteers

Working as a leader to help plan a World Concert for peace
With many famous people and entertainers she's so thrilled
To be part of something to make the world a much better place
As I reflect back I see how she has become a great woman

Amy Lynn is the daughter that every father wish he could
have had.  She is beautiful, intelligent young woman who
really cares for everyone and she tries everyday to help
make a difference in this crazy world of ours.  She is a
great mother who has survived several events that would
have destroyed most others, but she persevered and she
continued to make a difference in many peoples lives. I
could not be more proud of my little buttons,  she has
become a great woman and I love her so very much.
