Autumn's Wild

waiting patiently
but the mind wanders
to the crisp-aired wonder world of autumn
outside
leaves are whispering
wild adventure
rustling rustling
listen
tousled tussling in the rising wind
stirring my restless feline mind
my long black tail is twitching
static electric currents switching
as my human crosses the carpeted floor
to look out the blinds
I am giddy
spring-loaded ready
out, I've bolted
she gently clicks the door behind
testing the wind with my whiskers
I sprint forward
a cat child smiling
hear the window behind me opening
she'll be listening for me
when I come back
in time
