The Stranger within me
There's are echoes in my soul
that haunts my memory.
That tears apart my future
so it can not be.
As the sadness crushes me
I can not find myself.
I'm hidden behind the box
of Hope upon the shelf.
When I stand relaxed
I'm attacked from deep within.
All the pain and suffering
comes from where's its been.
I reach out and tear it
leaving it in shreds.
I look around for inner peace
and find the spirit dead.
Once again a shambles
is what I made of life.
The sins that surrounds me
can't cut it with a knife.
When I see the beauty
of with I did create.
I break it with a smashing blow
full of rage and hate.
So you see my battle
the rushing from my soul.
I slowly lose the breath of life
depression takes it's toll.
I'm hoping you can hear me
I hope you understand.
It's OK for you to love
what's left inside this man.
I fight this thing within
only to take from me.
All that I have ever had
tossed it in the sea.
Self hatred is the nightmare
won't let me sleep at night.
Looking to apprehend it
but it is not in sight.
Once again it is hidden
to catch me by surprise.
If only I would become aware
and see through it's disguise.
So I hope you understand
my struggle to be free.
Of this thing that takes my life
The Stranger within me.
