Papa's Paper Star

All around the kitchen table…
Just as eager as could be…
Little fingers stringing popcorn
To hang on the Christmas tree.

We had no fancy decorations…
Had no strings of dazzling lights.
Papa made a star of paper
To top our Christmas tree that night.

Then he told us all a story
About the little Christ Child’s birth…
How a star shone on a stable
And how peace embraced the earth.

When the fireplace flickered out
 Small heads began to nod.
Gazing at Papa’s paper star
I once caught a glimpse of God.

Christmas 2012

~~Dedicated to my Sister Shirley~

Matthew 2:1-2
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea,
during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east
came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one
who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star
in the east and have come to worship him."

MY FATHER

~~Author's Note~~
My dad looked somewhat like James Cagney (the actor)
except his eyes were a deep set blue...but we were always
told this...and he was built like him and even walked like him.

MERRY CHRISTMAS....CHRIST THE SAVIOR IS BORN
