An Ocean full of memories

I once prayed through the night in a desert till sunrise
until the light in the bright sky chased my demons away
and as I looked out across an ocean full of memories
the light in the bright sky brought nought but dismay…
for all that I knew was covered in a cloud of confusion
there was nothing of clarity to set my mind free
the pillars of power that time fought for with honour
now proven corruptible as any man can be…
and the truth that was once our foundation for living
still crumbles into nothing with every new lie
while the voices in the wilderness still cry out for salvation
the truth is that honesty long ago passed us by…
love was proclaimed the answer to all of our questions
then love led to hatred and men marched too war
and as I look out over an ocean full of memories
the clouds are still covering just what it's all for?
