Bless those who follow not,
The evil that some sought;
Avoid the sinful path,
As to be spared the wrath.
Stay clear of the mockers,
As well as smooth talkers;
For their lips and their tongue,
Is where poison is flung.
Delight in what God taught,
Through Moses and the Christ;
Search it for answers sought,
So no longer enticed.
Reflect on the teaching,
Also Sunday preaching;
Pertaining to your life,
And encounters in strife.
Read it both day and night,
Till you have seen the light;
Building wisdom to know,
Which way you need to go.
Be a tree by a stream,
Catching the morning beam;
By first rays of the sun,
And by the waters run.
The tree produces fruit,
Being fed by its root;
An abundance to reap,
Prepares for wintry sleep.
The Lord has known the way,
That the righteous not stray;
Because the wicked lie,
They shall wither and die.
