     BACK
When was the last time you looked back? No,
 no, I don’t mean yesterday or the day before!
I mean back to your youth, when you were five.
When you were a little girl and life was a constant
 Merry-go round, always up and never down.
Mommy combing your long flowing hair and daddy
 would tell you what a beautiful little girl you were.
Tricycles, bicycles and stuffed toys; dancing with your daddy
 on the top of his shoes, laughing and laughing.
 Playing with your Angora rabbit or a doodle bug in the sand; or
playing in your dollhouse with your little cousin Patty;
 making mud pies, singing, dancing, laughing and laughing; and you
thought those days would never end! But, end they did…forty years ago.
I know, I know, today you’re too busy to stop and smell the flowers,
work, husband and son, just too busy.
But my darling daughter, take time to look back, for it will do your spirit good!
Life at five for you was a beautiful rhyme, for your mommy, daddy and brother too.
1970 was a good year!
Your Old Daddy
