Oh to be a hero

Oh to be a hero
to be valued more than worth
to be free of sin
and doubt within
and worthy of such verse

Oh to be a hero
having fought a hero's fight
knowing high esteem
having lived the dream
fearing nothing in the night

Oh to be a hero
having children feel secure
when to reach out wide
you safeguard their lives
so they know you're there for sure

Oh to be a hero
one that never knows of pain
that never counts the eyes
of those that died
or those he himself had slain

Oh to be this hero
if only just for one day
I could forget all the battles
forget those lives shattered
and wipe all my past tears away.
