The photographs line up
In seniority's places.
Looking down the line
I can see the same faces:
Yet not quite the same
There are subtle alterations
As the faces pass on
Through the generations.
The curve of the nose
The line of the chin,
firm featured faces faces
Neither fat nor thin.
These images make me think
I will in some ways be alive
Century after century as long
As my line continues to survive,
And photographs  are added
And the face reappears
Time and time again
Over those coming year.
