Claymore mines, mortars, hand grenades,
Incoming rounds falling like rain,
Machine gun fire and everyones
Thoughts and desires are the same...
Just to make it out alive,
Closer to death than an undertaker,
One bullet away from going
Back to your maker,
Continually escaping certain death situations
Can be incredibly liberating,
No feeling in life is in any way more exhilarating,
But when the war is over our trooper
Discovers something else...
· SURPRISE!!!
Emotionally, he is debilitated...
With no hope of being rehabilitated,
Next stop, death or incarceration,
A stranger to parents, child, girlfriend or wife,
Strung out on heroin or smoke from that pipe,
Welcome home hero,
This is your life.
