Sedville-USA

Shadows in hues of silver and gray
flicker in the setting sun’s reflection.
A pale moon hangs low in the dark sky
as ravens take flight and loudly cry.

On a Starry, starry night on an outstretched
canvas, she painted the warm summer’s  delight.
“Carry moonbeams home in a jar” Oh! How today,
I wonder where you are. The year was forty-nine,
and everything seemed so fine in  Ole Sedville-USA!

Childhood memories of an old covered bridge,
Flat creek ran under and beyond the ridge.
The Cottonwoods stood tall and on Sundays,
 shed their cotton balls.

Today is yesterday and tomorrow is today,
and the little children that used to play here
are all grown up and faded away, melted into
the sun’s reflection of a long gone yesterday,
in a place we called, Ole Sedville-USA!
