          Tranquility Lake

There’s a place I go to be alone
when stress and strain becomes
more than I can bear, it’s far away,
yet always close to mind.

A place I call “Tranquility Lake”
where the sun brightly shines ,
and blue birds sing all the time.

A warm breeze constantly caress the tall
Cypress trees and gently moves the
 Spanish moss to and fro.

A colorful dragonfly lands on a swaying
cattail, awaiting its next meal.
Large, white water lilies float aimlessly
on the lake’s surface.  A band of ravens
take flight, anticipating the coming of night.

The splashing of a largemouth bass breaks
the silence on the lake, but quickly the ripples
fade away and calm is again the order of the day.

This is the place I spent my childhood days,
camping, fishing, swimming and where I
return to in my mind, when life becomes
overbearing and upside down at times.

The warm summer breeze clears my mind
and sets my soul  at ease, and that’s why I come
back to  ”Tranquility Lake” anytime I please.
